General Duel Rules
- Matches take place on esf_cell_games, esf_cell_games_night, or esf_geoarena
- Each match shall be a 1 v 1
- Each match will be to 10 frags
- Double elimination
- Vegeta and Goku are the only characters allowed
- SSJ is not allowed
- If a server crash should occur, the match must be restarted fresh.
- Scripting is NOT allowed.
- Bugs / Exploits are not allowed
- No advanced melee / throwing
- A judge may be present for matches if wished.
- A Script Check is allowed and required if asked for by opponent.

Players must agree on whether to use European or U.S. Duel Rules. If players cannot reach a consensus, U.S. Duel Rules will be used.

U.S. Duel Rules
- Melee, kiblasts and genbeams are allowed
- Two hits in the air, one hit on the ground

European Duel Rules
- Melee Only
- Three hits max

Since I don't play much ESF 1.2.3 (Played like 2 or 3 times) I don't know what the following terms mean:

*Advanced melee
*Two hits in the air, one hit on the ground
*Three hits max

Could someone explain to me?

Sure.

When the game first went into beta with version 1.0, there was one melee system in place. Basically, you flew into someone holding right click and the person hit got knocked back and damaged. A lot of people grew to love this system, a lot of people hated it. The ESF team decided to expand upon the melee system for version 1.2 and hopefully make something that everyone liked. So for 1.2, they kept the old melee system in the game, which is now known as simple melee, but they also added a new melee system to the game, now known as advanced melee. So if you fly into someone without right click held down, you start punching someone. Then holding right click causes you to start throwing, or holding left click brings you into a mode that is basically ddr. You press directions and the opponent has to match those directions. If he does he gets to dodge an attack, if he doesn't he gets punched.

So that's advanced melee. Advanced melee isn't used by those who are good at the game because it just doesn't make sense. You can get a guaranteed hit and damage with simple melee, or you can go for the chance of possibly damaging the opponent but possibly damaging yourself with advanced melee. It also makes the game a bit slower paced.

As for the two hits / three hits, that has to do with simple melee. When you hit someone with simple melee, they get knocked back. You can then swoop after them and try to hit them again, and this is known as a combo. You can do two hits in the air, but the game won't let you do anymore. If you bounce someone off of terrain, though, the game allows you to do more hits. You can be creative and get quite a lot of hits out of people by bouncing them around. In America players generally use kiblasts / generic beams when using melee, and with the extra hits it can be little cheap, so they're limited to 2 hits in the air and 1 hit in the ground for any combo. In Europe it's just 3 hits max, no matter what. A big reason for this rule is that there's a bug that allows people to hit someone in a way that lets you get infinite hits on someone on the ground.

I would love to have a amazing tournament. If Ren fights, we may have to tie one hand behind his back. Though I can't wait to see how things turn out.

is anyone going to record these fights or at least the last one? I don't think the last tournament had such a thing, could be wrong though.

If I participate, I offer to record it. But it's likely I'm not joining so someone should do it if I'm not there.

Most people don't plan on flaking off.

Id join, but i have to bring my box in due to a problematic PSU and apparently the benchmarks they ran on it didnt show any problems, while my computer kept pretty much crashing when ever something a bit more graphically intensive was played.

So ill have to bring the box in to prove my claims.

If the signup is still going when i get it back, then ill join. Otherwise good luck.

The Sign up is til Jan 25th and I might extend it to the 30th but hopefully you can join in.

Well it's not going to be done all in one day. It could be drawn out for a while if it comes down to it.
