LAGG and speed isues

I have an question how do I make it that I dont have soo much lagg I play online even by my self and it goes slow as hell and I have an cable modem it shouldnt be soo slow I swiched to the OpenGL but once I did the game is slow as hell is there and video option I need to change of do I need an faster video card ?

how do I check my video card I cant find it ?

goto the display setting
click the settingsa tab
click the advanced button
click adpater
your vid card info is there

damn i can not handle them newbie Q's they r just annoying!

What helps, (I'm not sure but u can always try)
First with CS I used the highest resolution. It was very slow. But when I used a lower resolution. Like 800*600 it was just fine, Try that I'd say.
