Technical and Historical Notes
Introduced early during the One Year War as a replacement for the C-type Zaku II, the F-Type was the most heavily mass-produced version of the Zaku II line and served as the mainstay of the Zeon military. It is the F-type Zaku II that is also the most well-known version of Zeon's mobile suit forces. Although fully capable of operating on Earth, the F-type Zaku II was designed primarily for space combat (although the F-type did see limited use in Earth-based ground combat). A nearly identical variant of the F-type, the J-type Zaku II, was designed and employed as a ground combat unit.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: It is interesting to note that the MS-06F Zaku II bears a striking resemblance to the MS-06 Borjarnon units recently excavated and employed by the Lousiana Militia forces. Due to some very minor cosmetic and technical differences, our archaeologists here at the Vicinity Research Institute can only surmise that Lousiana's Borjarnons are actually slightly modified Zaku IIs built by the Principality of Zeon of the Universal Century Era, or are an entirely new line of mobile suit based closely on the Zaku II design, but manufactured by another party in a later period. To date, we have not been able to solve this mystery.)
