I would have to say 4 since it wont lag much....

Its not so much your system but your internet connection. If your on a 56k modem probably run a 2-4 person server dsl/cable 6-12(depending on your comp stats) If you run anything high like a t-1 or OC-3 and have a good comp then you can start making the big servers like 15-20 if not more.

no it's not the connection .. if ur on a slow connection don't even think about running a server!!

it's ur CPU .. ur computer ability to handle the stuff .. if it's not dedicated then i suggest something like 6 .. if it's dedicated .. i don'y know!

If you have good system spex & a good connection for ur server (Example: T1+) then u should set the max players for the number of characters there are (If you are doing FFA) or the number of characters doubled (Team Play)

i was talking about an XP2000 with 1 Gig Ram and 100 mbit connection...

I vote for 8, that's just a good size

more then 8 it becomes too busy,

9 is best cuz there are 9 characters, this way u don't see double all the time lol (that is if players agree not to take same character as another dude)
and if teamplay is on 18
