what is a avatar and how do i make one and what do i need to make one5 arial fire red

an avatar is the pic that shows up under your name, i think after 50 or so posts you can do a custom avatar, which can be a pic from your hard drive or whatever theres a thread somewhere i'll post the link, and i dont know if you can do colors in the avatar text
