what do you mean when it is finished? it is finished a lot of people play it including myself, if you mean when the full non beta is released i dont know if it will be or not, see if the version thats out now is and if it is the full will probably be

lol when its finished haha.... anyway the answer is NO just use D3D or OpenGL what is the problem with using those anyway? The graphics are much better with them, and if you are the unlucky person whose card cant handle it then you are in dire need of a new card/computer because the hl engine is OLD
