Ok when I dont play ESForces and just want to play counterstrike, it screws up. When I join a game it doesnt show any of the connection stuff and it doesnt let me bring up console. I switched it back to software for CS and OpenGL for ESForces...help?

No. OpenGL doesnt mess up graphics for me... Its looks even better for CS!... For console, go to your shortcut, and type inder target, -console... right after what it says already.

Just right click on anyone of them, and go to properties. Type this under Target:
C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\hl.exe -console
And there you have it... Like magic, your console!
Its C:\ or D:\ depending on what drive you installed your HL or CS too.

C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\hl.exe -console

says its invalid on both games. I see on cs this target name as well.

C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game cstrike

and thsi on regular halflife

C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -dev -console

HLSW doesn't support the console to my knowledge, so just use regular old HL.

try to reinstall everything, then ESF once again. there may have been a problem with installation in the first place.
