complete and utter N00B

I saw this site and got Half life Counter strike jus' for it, and now when i go and activate ESF, and click quickstart a message saying my esf.exe is out of date and asks if i wanna update, i hit yes and then a screen pops up. in the left hand bottom corner it says like 5768k cache, and then in the center it is like 92744 bytes and 3.2 seconds remaining, and then nothing happens, what should i do?

Make sure that you have the highest version of Half-Life or Counterstrike possible. Check out www.planethalflife.com to search around for either of those patches.

Hmm, I'll do that, i tried to use sierra's patcher but it kept saying i wasn't connected to the internet, as i was jus' done downloading it...
By the way, what is the current version of HL:Cs?

If you have just half-life, then it is 1.1.1.0

If you have the retail(store bought) version of Counterstrike, it will be 1.0.0.5, or just 1.5 for short.
