Ok there are some mods around that will let you admin your own server, now it's like...

1. what do i need?
2. Where do i get it?
3. how could i install it propperly?

Ok here you install it with the ESF fix:
Note: if you want to run bots, first install the bots.


First install admin mod (www.adminmod.org)
then go to wehre adminmod was installed and do the install script (dont worry about if it says if its a bad script)

Now Download teh ESF fix on the first page of adminmod/metamod
Or click here:
windows
linux
Place teh esf fix (metamod.dll or the linux one (I dont run linux)) here:
c:\sierra\half-life\esf\addons\moetamod\dlls
dont worry about it overrcopying it.

Then all you have to do is set up teh rest by:
first change adminpass.cfg (open it up with notepad)
change teh word password to youre personal password.
like this: setinfo "_pw-home" "lostrules"

Then go to c:\sierra\half-life\esf\addons\adminmod\config\users.ini
add youre full name liek this
YoureFullName:lostrules:131071
(or whatever youre password is for the middle)
The last number is for youre acess Level of admin.(look at the help file for more information) If you have : in youre name you have to add excape values
(look in the help file)

Now change youre HALF-LIFE SHORTCUT (this is verry important)
right lcick and click properties and change the target.

to this:
C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf +exec adminpass.cfg
(or wherever you installed half-life)
if you want to run bots change it to this:
C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf +exec adminpass.cfg +localinfo mm_gamedll dlls/esf_bot.dll

(optional)
All thats left is to do some prefrences in here: c: \sierra\half-life\esf\addons\adminmod\config\adminmod.cfg

If you want to install plugins, go to www.adminmod.org and look under plugins.
Then download the proper plugins that you want.
If the file is already .amx
send it to here c:\sierra\half-life\esf\addmon\adminmod\scripts

If the file is .sma send it to here
c:\sierra\half-life\Adminmod\scripting\myscripts

be warned some files are for linux while some are for windows, so if theres a read me, read it first before you go willy-nilly decideing on which one to use.

After you send it to myscripts, press compile all.

It will send the compiled files to
c:\sierra\half-life\Adminmod\scripting\mybinaries

then move youre files to:
c:\sierra\half-life\esf\addons\adminmod\scripts

Afterwards go to:
c:\sierra\half-life\esf\addons\adminmod\config\plugin.ini

And add the proper lines that are needed for the files that you added.
Example:
addons/adminmod/scripts/plugin_antiflood.amx
addons/adminmod/scripts/plugin_base.amx
addons/adminmod/scripts/plugin_dubfroggy_rainbow.amx
addons/adminmod/scripts/plugin_cavey_warn_id.amx
addons/adminmod/scripts/plugin_cavey_warn_ip.amx

Teh first 2 are default but the next 3 are my own.

Then when you get l33t with Admin-Mod move onto something very similar but more advanced and that can do more yet still has most of the same base plugins >> AMX Mod

Ist ill like the many plugins that adminmod has

AMX Has the same plugins >_> and then some, like the FORCE plugin, you can use force powers from Star Wars (I LOVE doing the force push, like when they wave their hand and made the battle droids fall n sh**)

I mean teh other plugins tha re made by diffrent people in the plugins section.

I know what you meant, and like I said, AMX Mod has the same plugins, well not the exact same, like the originals but with extra stuff, only problem is ya gotta kinda dig for 'em, but it's worth it.

Umm for the ESF fix you install adminmod ifrst then put metamod.dll (ESF fix) where teh current metamod.dll is

I think AMX is easy to instal and use

what do these files do - do theyu improve esf in anyways - i know a little bit about computer (tech wise and some other crap) but what does it do and btw, what does esf beta fmod.dll do ?

If you must know what it "is", it is a admin tool for running servers.

As for the fmod: there was no reason to ask the question here, this thread wasnt meant for it.

BTW, I think AMXMOD is better for the noobie admins because they can just amx_menu in the console and get all the major cvars, player options, maps, and server sounds. For the admins I had appointed on the SL server, I would give them access to this so they can't screw up. =P
