WRONG KEY?!!

hi..... i recently bought the half life cd and the counterstrike cd and i put the keys in and played perfectly for quite a while....... but today and yesterday it has been telling me my cd is in use.......... but i thought if i BOUGHT it... it was mine only....... plz help..... thanx...

Well, did you give your key out to anyone? Have you got it installed on more than one computer? Chances are someone got your key somehow and has been using it. If your key is totally legit, and you haven't given it out to someone contact Valve.

oh my yes yes one of my friends came to my house and stole them without me noticing so i play play and play and all the sudden i was bored because my cd keys were in use so i go over to my friends house and kick the living hell out of him and never used my keys again......but yea u might have it installed on a diff comp or if someone was in ur house like mine are u sure u didnt give em out ??

well if you bought it off ebay, then if the seller scanned the case the number could have appeared and some1 might have jotted it down and used it. OR a keygen that has a 50% chance of working or a crack (i saw a crack somewhere once for 1.1.1.0) and someone might have stolen your key, your best bet is e-mailing seirra about it and getting your key back! o_o

if it says CD key in use..it doesn't really mean someone has ur cd key, I got like 3 copy's in my house, 1 I bought, 1 my bro bought and 1 my step dad bought for himself. he and my bro each had a computer and they both were using the SAME cd key, they both were playing at the SAME time just not on same server, if u play on the same server as the guy that has ur CD key then it won't work, but if it is a different server u can use the same cd key as someone else. Then my step father bought his copy so he can play on the same server as all of us. I had the same error CD key in use awhile back, and I knew for a fact no one had my cd key, so all I did to fix this was I shut down my computer, unplugged my internet cable for about 20 seconds, plugged it back in, start up comp, and then it fixed it, I Was back on the server that I always played on. I had to do this several times, so I know it worked for me, hopefully it will work for you.

Like honestly, what are the chances that if someone DOES steal ur cd key, that they are in the server that ur trying to get into? and if u try different servers and you get the same msg, then it has to be ur end, I tried other servers when I Got that msg so I knew sumthing was ****ed with Won. not someone who has ur CD key. just do what I did...and hopefully it will work

there is no need to turn off your computer or unplug your internet connection. simply wait a bit, if you cant get into a server the 3rd time u try, than go make a sandwich and get a drink. by the time you come back it should be cleared up.

sometimes this problem occurs out of nowhere for me and it wont let up until i re-install everything, I think it has to do with WON authentication servers, but either way if the problem persists try a full re-install.

Damh you must be mad! My thoughts someone stole it!!!!!!!Get him and make him pay by braking all his fingers sothat he can't type in your key ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!
