I'm new and need some help please

I downloaded both ESF and Half Life, I have them both in the same folder. How do I play ESF? I know you need Half Life to do it but where do I go from there? Oh yeah and when I tried to play Half Life by itself it sadi that because I have windows XP Home Half Life had an issue and that i needed to go to the sierra web site inorder to fix it. Does anyone have any thoughts on these meriod of problems?

If you've installed everything correvtly and updated half life etc, there should be a short cut icon on your desktop. If not, open half life then go to mod viewer and select ESF
