Yeah that message pops up everytime I attempt to enter PT server now. So I dont know whether its this new router I got or something with my configs somewhere or its PT server's new config thats doing it. Im able to join other servers so whats wrong with this picture?

he has activated LAN only ... that means only LAN clients are allowed to join his server
he could change it with
sv_lan 0
0: all can join
1: only LANs can join

if you can join other servers it's not your fault ;)

Yea, and also I found that out shor after I posted this. This is so crappy. I hear Steam slows down your fps etc. Also if I do download steam, will I be able to play on non steam servers still?

Nope, you need your orginal Half-Life to play non-steam games. Steam and WON are saperate.

Install steam, and keep your old half-life. Then when you want to play WON game start your old half-life and when you want to play a steam game start steam.

Ok, do I make a back up copy of my HL folder and install Steam on 1 of them or what? Does Steam make back up copies? Does steam make a new HL folder for Steam games? How should I do this?

Steam installs to Program Files.
It will prompt you if you want to import all of your old mods. Say no and let it install.

Then you will have the new steam stuff and still have your old Won Versions.

Yep. That's exactly what I did.

So now I have c:\Sierra\HalfLife and
c:\Program Files\Steam

Lomax, a hint for you. Get steam and pay for Half-Life. The game is rather cheap ($9.95). And It's illegal to play without steam.
