Steam authentication

ok,
here is a problem about steam.
When i want to connect to an internet game server this error
message is displayed, but what does it mean
my english is not so good:
STEAM authentication required to connect to internet server


PLEASE HELP ME

hmm... i don't use steam but i'll try to help...

maybe the masterserver is down at the moment or you dindn't regist correctly... or, you sure you didn't use a pirated cd-key?

Did you give them your RIGHT and valid e-mail address because if u dident you wouldent be able to play on servers u need to get the e-mail they sent to u and read the code thing. thats all i can help u with...

i bought the orginal half-life
I think it was a hacker,on my pc (frozen)

pff thats just a lame excuse, for using warez and then blaming steam for not working, hackers who are capable of actually obtaining your half life cd key, will 'not' waste their time on "your" cd key, thats just plain ol stupid.
