PL questions

When you play ESF online does it automatically save your PL or is there a certain command or something to do it..and lets say I play with vegeta and get to 20mil and I decide to play with someone like cell. Will cell have the 20mil or will I have to use what he starts at

i think some is taken away not much though (not shure :'( )

like say u have 20,000,000 it will go down to about 19,500,000
