If you have multiple computers and want to have internet for all of them. A router is basically a box that can relay the different cords that give each computer internet access.

I never really saw a point in RPing a deathmatch game.. I'd rather keep it as fast paced as possible. Actions speak louder than words with games like these.

I wouldn't even want to try rping with esf. Just grab a good D&D, vampire, Battletech, or Rifts book. Thats some good role playing.

RP'ing is acting out a scene from DBZ in ESF. Like Goku and Vegeta's Kamehameha vs Gallick Gun power struggle. Or Buu coming back for the 12th time after getting owned by Goku. Something like that.

depends on what you call roleplaying. The fightclub threads can be considered roleplaying, as can playing neverwinter nights or KOTOR. There's also DnD type, as scorcher named, which provide, imo, the best expreince. You can read the rules to the d20 system for free if you are curious.

Eh he meant in-game. Probably some kind of tournament style RP?

Personally I don't role-play in games that aren't designed explicitely for it because I feel dumb doing it.

Pan Where do you live and what internet connection do you have? and you know about the latency on steam right? just choose a low latency and you wont have to worry about lag. unless you get spikes

::EDIT::

I dunno maybe id role play... ive never done it before. if it involves typing stuff. then forget it :p i never talk in a fight.

Well, its like final fantasy games, like taking turns doing certain moves to kill your opponant first, using strategy and skill. But its pointless in ESF unless they make an RP Mod for Half-Life, cause you gotta think about them idiots who wont wait there turn and just light you up with ki blastes....

Hmm...a good example of an rpg is those old pokemon games for the gameboy, haha dont laugh, you know you've played em. You take your turn with the pokemon, and attack one after the other, and some times you lose a turn because of an attack, and you can use power ups and health pills and stuff.
It would be cool though, and i personally dont try, so ermm....NO.

Yummy

Battletech = teh pwn.. =D
D & D = teh mini pwn

But seriously back in the day in 1.1 me and a friend of mine would try to recreat battles but that's the closest..

I think roleplaying would be more common if the game had some sort of objective-based game mode.

If you loose/win against the same person in Deathmatch constantly, there's not much to be said.

"You fool, you may have defeated me, but I'll RESPAWN! BWUA HA!"/"You thought you could defeat ME!?"

"Okay, that was just luck"/"You loose again!"

"I hate you"/"You suck"

"..."/"..."

But if you had some nifty objective-based stuffs in there, you could be like,

"I may have died, but guess who has control of the Dragonballs!"

"i haev ur flag"

And other misc. gametype-specific, my-underlying-plan-worked-even-though-I-died type stuff.
