Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay.
First, download the full beta 1.2 version, and install that to the following folder:
Not \half-life\esf, nothing else - just the Half-Life folder above.
Once you have the full beta 1.2 version installed, download and install the beta 1.2.1 patch and install it to the same Half-Life folder as above. Everything should run smoothly, if not - feel free to post back.
