The way I found it was I was really into Dragonball Z at the time and so I started looking around on the internet and found ESF alpha 2.0 and from then on I played ESF and here I am now. (By the way 1.1 was still the best.... had more fun and took more skill and 1.2 is cool but could be better but i trust the team and cant wait for 1.3 and future updates from ESF)

From other sites and friends. I've had Half-Life since it came out (1998) and I discovered Counter-Strike while it was still in the Beta stages. So, I was already into mods a long time ago. Hearing about ESF through basically hear-say.

An old friend of mine told me about the 2 great coders that were planning on starting a DBZ mod (obviously Harsens and Pcjoe) and being a DBZ fan myself, I didn't hesitate to check out. This was about the Alpha 1.8 days... and I've been here ever since :]

On TV? Cool, ESF got media coverage back then :laff:

A friend of mine told me of DBZ mods for HL, and burned DMZ and ESF on CD for me. Needless to say, I preferred the latter.

I found out from my brothers friend. He came over and wanted to download a dbz mod on my comp so he could play my bro on a lan. I aggreed, they played for like 5 minutes and decided that they didn't like it. Then I tried it out. I didn't even really like the game when i tried it, but I wanted to get as good as some of the other people that played the game. It took me like 6 months, and by that time I liked the game.

My brother showed it too me back when it was in it's alpha 1.8 stage I think. All I remember is that the splash screen was ssj2 gohan powering up or something. Anyways, I never really played it, but a while later I was looking for a new mod to play, And I rememberd about this one. So I looked it up, now it was at alpha 2.0. So I downloaded it, joined the forums, and have been here ever since.

When I first got into DBZ, I was way into it. I thought to myself, "There HAS to be a game based on this." So I looked it up. I found DMZ. :0\

I was so appalled that I went to search more, and found ESF shortly after uninstalling DMZ (like, literally, while it was uninstalling in the background).

I was playing DMZ on some random server and a friend of one of the people in the server joins. They start talking, and one of them says something like "omfg ESF Beta 1.0 is coming out soon!" and they keep talking about it. I do a Google search afterwards, and here I am. =D

I used to play DMZ 1.0 and a little 1.7. I played some of the alphas for ESF, but I thought DMZ was better at the time, even with the crashing every two and a half seconds. Then ESF Beta 1 was released, I got it at the release party and started a server. Soon, pcjoe came in and beat the **** out of me. After that, I thought ESF just *might* be better. http://forum.esforces.com/images/smilies/icon33.gif

well i had the beta 1 of dragon mod z, becuase my cousin had backed it up in a disc that had a file i wanted. i installed it, wanted something better so looked for the update, couldn't dl because when i ran the exe it said there was an error or soemthing, i had that problem with all the mods. So i had my brother dl dmz 17 for me. weeks later i finished backing up (the 8 cds). i finally could dl and instal mods with no problem, i found the esf website. i had seen it before but i had the problem, tried it, liked it, i was happy although i found it a little complicated (the advanced melee) and like a month later here i am.

Jeez, I'm new here but, hey, this looks like a decent place for a first post. I can't recall exactly where I got ESF in the first place, but it was years ago, as I recall it had (at that time) about 2 BGM tracks, 2 characters, 2 maps, 2 attacks..from what I remember being able to control the basic beams was a brand new feature, and they looked pretty uh..dodgey, would be the polite term.

I played it for about fifteen minutes..and to be honest, wasn't impressed (can you blame me though?). But then like, a year later, two of my friends (LAN heads) were heavily into it, all but comandeered my system and installed it, commanded me to play it with them, and yeah..stuck with it ever since.

So, long story short, in one way I first 'played' it a few years ago, in more depthed way I first actually -played- it about..two years ago or so.
(and I'm still not that crash-hot at it =x)

Human self? Meaning you are only part human?

And maybe mind your own business? I posted that at my FRIEND SilentBob as we have an ESF rivalry going on and have some good battles. I don't claim to be a real warrior partly because the occupational insurance is quite high.

Back when i was yay high and was a huge fan of DBZ, i wanted to play DBZ games. I had all the PS games, Final Bout, etc, all the SNES roms and so fourth and so on, and was dying to play some DBZ game i could face people over the internet with. I searched around, and found BFP. At the time, i didnt have any connection higher than 56k access, and got a friend to download it for me. After playing BFP for a while against bots, it got really boring. I looked around some more, and found ESF while it was just about to enter its 1.1 stage. A month later, i got adsl, and started playing ESF with 1.0, then 2 weeks later 1.1 was released ^_^...good times....

PS. CS Land, Anime XG is friggin sick man, keep up the pwnage website, really feeling the layout and everything, its an awesome website dude

Well. How I found ESF is a long story. Earm. In fakt it isn't so long.
A friend of my brother told my brother to play ESF 1.2. But he doesn't even
know DBZ. But he did he played and lost. I saw him playing and went crazy.
I'm a DBZ-Freak(<- I would say). That's how I found ESF.
:laff:

I found ESF back in the days before ModDb. I was searching for HL mods, and came across some French mod site. I saw something like 'Le Dragonball Z' (:p) and clicked the link, stumbling into a brave new world on these forums. It was round about the time 1.9 was released, because I briefly played 1.8.

And that was like, 3 and a half years ago.

My God, I'm getting old. :p

i saw it once on fileplanet i think while searching for Anime mods, and found ESF. Being an offline BFP player at the time, i wanted something new. I downloaded and played ESF 1.0 once, my first map being esf_afm and loved it so much i signed up to the forums, and got trained by some people, and never quit playing since O: This was my first ever online experience of any game, and i cant put it down :3

One day, the idea of a DBZ mod just struck me. I searched a HL Mod Database and found DMZ. It looked awesome, but it rather sucked when I played it. In the links section of the site, I found RedSaiyan. In the links section of RedSaiyan, I found ESF and GHP.

In the schoolyear 2000-2001 a friend of mine told me about "counter-strike, but then dbz..." which was esf.
Played alpha first I think it was 1.9 but I'm not sure, then later on they where always talking about when the "beta" would come on the servers...
Quit the game and got bored, then I heard the beta was released.
I dont really know when I joined the forum,
but I do know that when I wanted to join I noticed I had already registered...

I found it when i was looking for an update of Bid For Power. i was looking for the update so that you could control the beams that you shoot instead of just shooting straid ahead :P

Than i saw a page with some text and it had some screenshots of ESF in it.. those shots where of alpha 2.0 and i tought it sucked like hell :P and i didn`t looked at it anymore till a few months after that... there was an update again but this time with esf BETA 1.0 and that was my time to enter here. not much later i found redsaiyan and the rest is a known story

i first started playying it at a net cafe , and after i started to become familar with the gameplay of the 1.0/1.1 series , i signed up for these forums (back in those days i was known as ssj perfect) then just signed up a new account , even thou i could of just pmed a admin to change my name , i was unsure who could do that around then because i wasn't around enough to see who was an admin back then , i had played aplha a couple of times before , but esf really didn't take my interest till 1.0 and then it consumed my soul , any1 thaty palyed against my in 1.0/1.1 series at a net cafe would end up rolled over , as i quickly got the hnag os speed and tactics

when 1.2 came out , i had to wait a little (i can't remeber) but when i got it , it was easy to learn the basic aspect of the new system , it only took me about 30 or so mins to figure it out , plus i had kept up to date with alot of 1.2 news , after then 1.2.2 patch came out , i had finally figured out the sacret ownage combos , but i found them to be nothing special to me usal random melee arrow moves i use to do (i use to esf everyday , i guess the 3 letters say it all) i just wish more people wouldn't take the mod for granted and go "this mod if f***ing stupid , it's dragonball z" and look at it for fun , i know about 7 other people that looked at it at first , got pwned and crap , but when i tought them how to play the game , they loved it , and finally now i have people that are worth playying around this net cafe other then n00bs that try it out and whinge piss and moan , when simply we just kick them from the server and tell them to go read the guide

let's hope esf sticks around for a while longer , after all , i would like to see more gamplay ideas be implemented , or ones that were reviewed ages ago make some sort of use in the game (balanced thou)

you remind me of a girl that i once knew (you know the rest)

i was thinknig maybe tomake the game a little more attractive to averge cs pwners that a little more of the non dbz ideas could also help , personally , the team did a great job of implementing them nito gameplay on the non dbz side of things (take hmmm......... melee and some parts of wall jumping and beams) i dunno why , but some aspects from a realistic point of view make the game a little more unique

btw gir , do u mean the n00b wow video , i got that on a cd somewhere from some comp mag

I found it after I realised that Battle Of Millenium Mod was dead ^^
Then I saw projects of ex-teammembers. When I saw DarkTooths name, that he's doing on some DBZ mod, I immedeately went on page linked there. And I came just few hours after beta 0.1 was released :P

oh i do? well i guess thats probably because i dont play esf, so youve never had a chance to "pwn this n00b".

yes thats the video i was talking about.

there are lots/were lots of dbz games that had some promising factors, there is/was one for dark forces, theres also many for games like unreal, hl2 etc... but in my oppinion ESF outdoes them all in terms of playability. easily.

all the wow n00bs just die from what i see when watching people who work at this net cafe play

on topic : we should try to get more critics to look at esf , and maybe give the game a raiting to attract more people to play it , really , that's all we need to help the community grow a bit more , infact i am thinknig of a few ideas that may work , thou i wanna think them over a bit before i suggest anything

I'm from the days of 1.0 myself. I think I was talking to a friend about how cool a DBZ mod would be, and he showed me this. He hasn't played since 1.1. It's almost ironic.
