Rocky walked through the lush green forest with a scowl on his face, his long black cloak dragging through the underbrush. The chirping of the birds, the rushing of the nearby river and the calls of the nearby animals, all made him sick.
âNature⦠I see nothing pleasurable about it.â As Rocky continued along his path a sudden thought came to his mind.
âMy Lord would be pleased were I to destroy this haven for creatures.â
WHOOSH!
Rocky snapped back to reality as an arrow hit a tree directly in front of him, only barely missing. Staring into the endless green of the forest, Rocky looked out for his attacker. âThere!â Rocky smiled as he located Tolore who still had the crossbow in his hands.
âDamn it! I missed,â Tolore cursed his mistake knowing full well his surprise card had been played and lost. Certain he would have to confront the Demon, face to face, Tolore stepped out from hiding.
âThose things can be dangerous... if used in the wrong hands.â Rocky mocked, pointing to the crossbow in Toloreâs hands.
âMock me all you want Demon, but your time has come, my Employers have promised me a great deal of money for your head.â
âEmployers? Stop sounding like youâre important, who would hire an assassin as worthless as you?â
Tolore looked stunned âIs he just playing around? Or does the death of all those villagers mean nothing to him?â
âI have no time to teach a fighter of your pathetic stature how to fight, consider this a friendly warning. Stay out of my way, Bounty Hunter and I will spare your life.â
As Rocky turned to leave, Tolore shouted. âSo the lives of those you killed mean nothing, the men, the women, you didnât even spare the children. You want to know my employers? They are the surviving villagers from the border town you ripped through on your way here and I will not stand idly by and let the murderer go free!â
Rocky turned back with a smile âThis one has spirit.â Rocky thought, âI will enjoy crushing it.â
âOh, I remember now, that poor village on the outskirts, they were dying from hunger, their crops had withered, and their water supply was drained. I did them a favour by taking their lives. Now they will no longer suffer.â Rocky smiled, picturing his victims, once bitten by him, they were doomed to spend eternity in hell. They didnât know the meaning of suffering.
Rocky smiled moving towards Tolore, âAnd now you will join them.â
SNAP!
Concealed in the underbrush was a tripwire placed earlier by Tolore. Rocky swore as the wire triggered a trap which sent several arrows shooting out. In a desperate defensive manoeuvre, Rocky crouched to the floor. His cloak draped over him. Then⦠silence.
âNow that wasnât so hard.â Tolore thought as he slowly edged over to Rocky. Then⦠with an almighty roar, Rocky rose from the ground and stretched his huge body. The black cloak fell to the floor in shreds along with many arrows as Rocky revealed his awesome figure. The rising sun glinted off his dirty metal wings. Truly he was an awesome creature.
âA worthy trap, young fighter, but these metal wings do more than give me the gift of flight.â Rocky flexed the huge wings; Tolore looked on and saw a few broken arrow heads embedded in the metal.
Rocky winced in pain as he discovered and removed a stray arrow from his side. âIt seems however, that these wings donât shield me from all attacks. I commend you, not many fighters can say theyâve spilt my blood. However, it would seem that the day is growing late and I have run out of time and patients, this fight will end now!â
Rocky launched himself at Tolore. The large demonâs speed caught Tolore off guard.
âHeâs soâ¦fast.â
Unable to move in time Tolore was caught with a punch to his mid section, followed by a knee to the chin. Rocky continued his onslaught with a series of punches to Toloreâs solar plexus; Rocky ended the devastating combo with a swift tail whip, sending Tolore flying into a nearby tree.
âAnd now you pitiful mercenary, you understand what youâre up against. Rocky smiled, âItâs so hard to find a challenge these days.â Rocky thought as he turned to leave.
âWait!â
Confused Rocky turned back to face Tolore who had miraculously picked himself up after the combo.
âIâm not done yet.â
âI must praise you for being able to stand, that alone puts you in a different class. However, it wonât be enough to save you.â
Rocky once again leapt at Tolore with awesome speed.
âIâll let you fool me once Demon, but attacking with the same move again, I have you scouted.â Tolore thought, quickly formulating a plan.
Just as Rocky swung with his first punch, Tolore sidestepped the Demon. Rocky, was caught off balance and found him self defenceless.
âGotcha!â
KINETIC BOOST!
Tolore felt the energy gathering at his feet and with a flash he was launched at Rocky, the speed, generated by the boost, made his punch a lot stronger, he struck at Rockyâs already wounded side. Rocky hollered with pain. The force of the blow sent Rocky sliding along the forest underbrush.
As Rocky painfully got back to his feet, He stared in amazement at the crater left behind by Toloreâs attack.
â¦But where was he? Rocky looked all around the forest but was unable to locate the mercenary.
Then⦠it dawned on him.
âAboveâ¦?â
Rocky sidestepped just as Tolore was about to connect with a flying fist. But Tolore didnât let up, swinging with lefts, rights and the occasional kick, Rocky was unable to mount any kind of offensive.
âNo good, heâs not letting up, I need a break to switch the momentum.â
But there was no break. Tolore was relentless, a fire burnt in his eyes as he pictured the massacred village, and the Demon responsible.
â¦Suddenly, a gap, Rocky, used the free second to forward flip out of immediate danger. Turning back to face Tolore, he smiled.
âSo youâre not as pathetic as I originally thought. However your mediocre skills will not save you.â
Tolore felt his rage swell as he continued his assault. Rocky however, was ready this time, matching blow for blow. Tolore swung with a right fist to the head which Rocky easily ducked, then countered with a left fist to the gut, Tolore spun away from the punch and swung with a right heel kick. Rocky caught the kick and flipped Tolore into the air. Tolore showed superb agility as he landed perfectly on the floor and launched himself back at Rocky with a left fist. This proved Toloreâs downfall, Rocky sidestepped the attack and grabbed Tolore from behind.
âNow, you are mine!â
Rocky bared his sharp fangs and bit down hard on Toloreâs neck, injecting the poison of the devilâs curse. By the time Tolore struggled free it was already too late. Tolore only had a short time before the poison would take effect and literally drain his energy.
Rocky smiled. âLetâs make this a bit more interesting.â Turning around and targeting a patch of dead grass, Rocky unleashed some of his dark energy, which instantly ignited the grass. With the temperature as it was, the fire would soon spread and engulf the entire forest. Rocky thought back to the chirping birds and nearby animals as he smiled.
âDeathâ¦for all.â
