no, the chipsets on the motherboard, and infact, the saddle for the 64bit processor are completely different, also, as far as im aware, you need specialised ram for a 64bit system

I got an Athlon 64 3400 for Christmas, but didn't need to change my RAM. It's not good RAM either, very slow stuff that I bought around 2 years ago, so I don't think you need to change that.

The jump from an XP to a 64 will be pretty noticable. 64s have builtin memory controllers and shorter pipelines than the intels and XPs, so they're a lot quicker. The thing is, you need tight timing memory in order to take advantage of this. Don't go for cheap ram if you're going 64, you'll probably regret it. Also, if you're going 64, try to get socket 939 so you can use dual channel memory, that'll help some.

meh .. havent known ur german :p

also. wenn dein ram scho älter is brauchste auch keinen 400 fsb cpu. da dein board warscheinlcih keinen ddr400 ram unterstützt geschweige denn dual channel ^^

DJ, you have to post a translation of what you said concurrent with your non-english language post.
