Do you have a new system that you would like to show off to people around the world? Do you want to see what your new screamin' machine can do? Would you just like to test your computer for all it's worth? Then a benchmark is for you.

What is a 'benchmark'?
A benchmark is a program that tests your computer's hardware capabilities and then gives you a score based on how well your computer did. Then you can upload it and compare it against other people's scores. It can be incredibly fun or incredibly boring depending on your outtake of it.

What type of benchmarks are there?
There are several different kinds. They can range from testing parts of your computer, to testing the whole darned thing at once! 3DMark01, for example, tests pretty much your whole computer throughout the tests, while 3DMark03 tests mainly your video card.

So the question is, which benchmark suites your needs? Generally, I use 3DMark01, 3DMark03, and AquaMark3 for my benchmarking needs. They're very good tools for showing you how fast your system is going to be, and they even have a database so you can see where your system lies in comparison to everyone else's!

WHERE CAN I GET THEM?? D: D:
Google them, idiot. Nah, just kidding. I'll post some for you:

AquaMark
Good all around system benchmarker, it uses a combination of all the current DirectXs.

3DMark01
Also a good all around system benchmarker, but it uses a combination of DX (DirectX) 7 and 8. This one is mainly CPU/RAM dependant.

3DMark03
This is mainly associated with video cards as 90% of the test is based on your video card. Very good for stability testing on you video card.

3DMark05
This is basically 3DMark03's big brother. While not quite as dependant on the video card as it's predecessor, it's still very reliant on video cards for the majority of the scoring.

PCMark04
I don't use this much ( if at all :( ), but it will stress your processor and RAM I believe.

SiSoft Sandra
This is a very good program that can benchmark certain parts of your computer of your choosing. It also can give very detailed information about your computer.

Prime95
This program is used by overclockers to test if their CPU is stable or not. If your CPU can run it for 24 hours, then it's perfectly stable.

----------------

After you've run some of these, post your scores! Here's mine:

3DMark03: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3648725

Umm, im not sure if i can post in the stickies but i have a question/request for you.

I overclocked my Pentium 4E from 3.0ghz to 3.125 with a 15x multiplier and i wanted to test it with prime95 but the link is bad, do you mind posting a new one for us all?

An overclock of only 150MHz for a P4 probably won't be enough to cause any horrendous instabilities. For that small of an overclock, I'd probably just play an hour or two of HL2 or other CPU intensive game.

How far up do you think that i could go up to? Im using the stock heatsink/fan and when it was at 3.0ghz it ran 49 degrees Celsius and underload it ran 55 degrees celsius, ever since i overclocked it to 3.125 it has been running 57 degrees celsius and 65 degrees celsius under 100% load, at intel.com it says that my type of a Pentium 4E can operate only up to 69 degrees celsius until it overheats, and the case can only be 31-35 degrees until it overheats and shuts down.

It's just because my card has ~3x the rendering power and memory bandwidth of yours.

Upload your score to their site and give us the link ;). Then I'll tell you if it's good or bad.

3Dmark03 gave me a 34582

Good or bad?
Also, what are your system specs?.

Just ran 3dmark03 myself just then actually
Specs:
2400+@ 2.2ghz (11x200)
1.5gb ddr400 (3x512, 2.5-3-3-7)
9600pro
ASUS A7N8X-E Delux
160gb SATA
Score: 3610.

I once did a run with Omega drivers, I scored just under 4000 with them however I was having some issues with the omega drivers in certain games. My old 9600XT use to score around 3800-3900, that sadly decided to strangely cark out on me slowly (worked great for 2weeks, then for unkown reasons started lagging in games. I'll never trust gecube again as long as I live, Iv'e known others with the same card that have had problems with it). Later I had my brother sell it as new to one of his n00b friends, & then later the fan died on it.

Then it seems decent for that computer.

The motherboard model is most probably ethier a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe or a A8N32-SLI Deluxe. I'd like to see what you pull out in 3dmark05 & 06 :).
