new prob... i think

Ok so I took half life (1) installed it ran it installed 1.1.1.0 patch ran it again installed esf ran esf started a lan game chose a map pressed "done" and what happens? got into the console started loading up things and then returned to the menu saying that my "current esf executable is out of date" ok so i let him connect to the internet pressed ok next various buttons and to what conclusion did he get my exe is "still" out of date but there isnt a new version available on sierra!!! damn. so my current version of esf is 1.2.3 i downloaded it a few days ago. WTF can I do?

is there any way to play offline without steam? i just want to play with bots....10x again btw is there any command i can give the console to disable the version check or something?
